Terms and Conditions

These terms are a contract between you and IKKIO Oy("IKKIO", "we", "us") for the use of our website, waitlist, newsletter and the IKKIO app and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Important safety information

IKKIO is an AI assistant, not a mobility aid, medical device, or a substitute for a white cane, guide dog, orientation and mobility training, or your own judgement. IKKIO uses AI to describe your surroundings, and AI can make mistakes, misidentify objects, or fail to notice a hazard. Do not rely on IKKIO for decisions where being wrong could put you or others at risk — for example crossing roads, using stairs, operating machinery, or identifying medication. Always use your own judgement, other senses, mobility aids and training together with IKKIO, never instead of them.

3. The Service is in beta

IKKIO is in active development. Features described on our website, including on our home page, may change, be delayed, or be limited to certain regions, devices or waitlist participants before general availability. We will try to communicate major changes in advance where we can.

4. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
  • If you are under 18, you may only use the Service with the consent of a parent or guardian.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for activity on your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.
  • You must give accurate information when you create an account or join the waitlist.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, stalk or surveil another person;
  • save, tag or process another person's face or biometric data through the Service without that person's knowledge and consent;
  • attempt to reverse engineer, decompile or extract the underlying models or source code of the Service;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it;
  • use automated means to scrape or access the Service outside of the interfaces we provide.

We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that breach this section, giving notice where reasonably possible.

6. Third-party devices and services

IKKIO is designed to work with smart glasses and other hardware made by third parties, such as Ray-Ban Meta and Brilliant Labs Frame. IKKIO is not made, endorsed or sponsored by those manufacturers. Your use of their devices and software is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which are separate from ours. We are not responsible for the availability, performance or safety of third-party hardware or software.

The Service may also link to or embed third-party tools, such as our newsletter provider Beehiiv. Those third parties have their own terms and privacy policies.

7. Waitlist and promotions

Joining the waitlist does not guarantee early access, a specific launch date, or participation in any promotion. Any giveaway or promotion referenced on our website (such as a smart glasses giveaway) is subject to separate rules, which we will publish or provide before the promotion runs, including eligibility, how winners are chosen and notified, and any restrictions that apply.

8. Pricing

The Service is currently offered free of charge during the waitlist and beta period. If we introduce paid plans, pricing and payment terms will be presented to you separately before you are charged, and will form part of these terms once accepted.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics and the IKKIO name and logo, is owned by IKKIO Oy or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from the Service except as the law expressly allows.

Content you provide to IKKIO (such as questions, saved preferences, or images you choose to keep) remains yours. You grant us a licence to process it as needed to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. AI-generated descriptions may be incomplete or incorrect; see Section 2.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IKKIO Oy is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived under Finnish or EU law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, or discontinue the Service or any feature, in which case we will give notice where reasonably possible.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service develops. We will post the updated version here and change the date at the top. If changes are significant, we will also tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Finland, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform or contact the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi).
