About

IKKIO was born from the idea of using spatial computing, wearable technology, and AI to create real impact and solve a real problem. One that affects millions of people around the world. Our mission to improve people's lives starts with the blind and visually impaired community, and will evolve to support anyone who can benefit from intuitive, hands-free assistance in everyday life.

At the heart of IKKIO is our AI assistant, an intelligent companion designed to understand your surroundings and adapt to your needs in real time. Whether powered by edge AI or cloud-based models, IKKIO delivers fast, context-aware support directly through your smart glasses or phone.

Our story began in Joensuu, Finland, over a decade ago, when Iara met Azra while volunteering. Azra, a highly engagement member of the blind community has been giving talks, workshops around the topic of accessibility and sharing her perspective as a blind person who codes, loves to travel, play sports, connect with people and much more.

"Azra's talk about echolocation over 10 years ago was incredibly enlightening and eye-opening for me. I'm truly grateful to have met someone so smart, kind, patient and with a great sense of humor to navigate all my sighted-person questions.” — Iara Dias, Founder & CEO

In early 2023, Iara began diving into smart glasses technology. After leaving her role at Decentraland at the end of 2023, she dedicated herself full-time to transforming this technology into something truly impactful. She reached out to Azra to get her feedback — and not only did Azra love the idea, she decided to join IKKIO and help shape its mission from the inside. We’ve received overwhelming support from the community and have many eagerly awaiting the chance to try our app.

We’re currently preparing to launch our beta app to a selected group. Join the waitlist and tell us why you should be among the first to access it. Sign up before October 31st, 2 025, for a chance to win a compatible pair of smart glasses. If you represent an association of the blind in our location, reach out by email and we will be happy to discuss a collaboration.
