Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on April 2026.

At IKKIO Oy, accessibility is not a compliance checkbox. We build AI-powered assistants for blind and visually impaired people, and our founding team includes Azra Tayyebi, our Accessibility Director, who has been blind since childhood. She ensures that every product decision is grounded in lived experience, not assumption.

That same standard applies to our website. We are committed to ensuring that www.ikkio.ai and www.ikkio.co are accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, or other assistive technologies.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

This site aims to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG defines how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities across four principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust.

We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG 2.1 at Level AA, which represents the internationally recognised standard for accessible web content and is required under the European Accessibility Act for services offered in the EU.

The following accessibility measures have been implemented across the IKKIO website:

  • Language declared — the site's language is set to English (lang="en") on every page, enabling screen readers to apply the correct pronunciation rules.

  • Logical content order — page content is structured so it reads logically without CSS, ensuring assistive technologies present information in a meaningful sequence.

  • Clear heading hierarchy — all pages use a single <h1> and a consistent heading structure, allowing screen reader users to navigate by heading.

  • Alternative text on images — all meaningful images carry descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked with alt="" so they are ignored by screen readers.

  • Colour contrast compliance — all text/background colour combinations meet the WCAG AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and UI components.

  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields) are reachable and operable via keyboard alone, with a visible skip-to-content link on every page.

  • Focus indicators — visible focus styles are present on all interactive elements so keyboard users always know where they are on the page.

  • ARIA landmark roles — <nav>, <main>, <aside>, <footer>, and role attributes are used consistently so assistive technology users can jump between page regions.

  • Reduced motion support — animations and transitions are suppressed for users who have set prefers-reduced-motion: reduce in their operating system preferences.

  • Scalable text — the site uses relative font sizes so text can be enlarged up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

  • Form labels — all form inputs have associated <label> elements or appropriate aria-label attributes.

  • Accessible accordion and interactive components — the FAQ accordion uses correct aria-expanded, aria-controls, and role attributes so screen reader users understand the expanded/collapsed state.
